  • Cara Delevingne has lashed out at 'disrespectful' Jameela Jamil for her attack on the late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld just hours after it was revealed he had died from pancreatic cancer aged 85.
In the midst of floods of tributes to the icon, The Good Place actress, 32, branded Karl 'a ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist' shortly before she became locked in a row in which she branded Cara 'thin, and white, and incredibly privileged'.
Jameela's original controversial post read: 'I’m glad somebody said it. Even if it is a little soon. A ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist shouldn’t be posted all over the internet as a saint gone-too-soon. Talented for sure, but not the best person.'

Following her note, Chanel muse Cara took to Twitter to respond to the star as she wrote: 'Seriously have some respect', before quoting Jameela's musician boyfriend James Blake's lyrics by penning: 'just go home and ‘talk s**t about everyone’.
The supermodel continued: 'He was born in 1933! I am not saying I agree with some of the things he has said. I’m very emotional and mourning his death and feel like I have to stick up for him when he’s not here to speak for himself... Everyone has their own opinion and I felt the need to voice my own. All I want is for everyone to love each other no matter what. Just please understand that it’s an extremely emotional time and we must try use love instead of hate'.
Echoing many online statements, Cara added: 'All of these things should have been addressed while someone is living, not the day after someones death'.
Hitting out: In the midst of floods of tributes from fashionistas to honour the icon, The Good Place actress, 32, continued her online crusade for body confidence and female empowerment by branding Karl 'a ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist'
Hitting out: In the midst of floods of tributes from fashionistas to honour the icon, The Good Place actress, 32, continued her online crusade for body confidence and female empowerment by branding Karl 'a ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist' Jameela soon lashed out at the star as she hit back: 'I didn’t find you offensive. I just think it hurts a lot of fat people, and people who he was racist about, and people who were affected by his toxic misogyny, to see someone like that hailed as if he was a saint. We have privelege so he was nice to us. He hurt a lot of people.'
Cara soon countered by stating: 'It saddens me deeply that anyone was hurt, that I do not condone. It is not possible to go through life without hurting people. He was not a saint, he is a human being like all of us who made mistakes and we should all have the chance to be forgiven for that'.
The row raged on when Jameela stated: 'Again, we can’t chalk decades of abusive rhetoric towards minorities as “being human” or “ making mistakes” doing it once as a joke and then apologizing is one thing, doing it again and again in spite of public outcry is a bad human. I’m sorry to speak ill of someone you love.'
Clearly outraged by her comments, Cara hit back: I agree with you but please don’t call him a bad human, that is simply not fair. We should be talking about the people alive, in power, ruling the world who are hurting, destroying far more lives than this man who has passed only yesterday. In possibly the most shocking comment of all, Jameela penned: 'But cara, his cruel words weren’t directed at you because you’re thin, and white, and incredibly privileged. So you don’t feel the pain of his bad behavior. There is never a good time to talk about this really. So much glory to someone who punched down, frequently. I’m sorry.'
Cara's original tribute to Karl read: 'Every time I try and write about this man, all i do is cry. He changed my life, he believed in me when so many others didn’t including myself. He also introduced me to some of the most important and special people in my life. He is a visionary, a genius but more than that....
'A dear friend. Outside of fashion, he was one of the most interesting and caring men I have ever met. I am so lucky and grateful to have had him in my life, worked with him and been able to spend time with him....
'Although now, I wish it had been more. His legacy will live on forever. I miss you more than I could ever try and describe. I wish I had been able to tell you how much you meant to me. I love you all I can say is thank for the bottom of my heart [sic]'.
